Voters approved annexation to South Snohomish County Fire & Rescue Regional Fire Authority (South County Fire) in the April special election.
Beginning in 2024, city property owners will pay South County Fire directly for fire and emergency medical services, eliminating the city as the intermediary. The city asked voters to consider annexation to maintain the level and quality of emergency services residents currently receive and to prevent funding reductions for other city services.
