The City of Mountlake Terrace has its Tree Lighting on the first Friday evening in December each year. Join the city for the 40th year of lighting the tree of lights on top of the water tower in 2023 as well as a 20-foot tree in the Jerry Smith Town Center Plaza.
The “tree” on the water tower is actually a frame constructed with over 1,800 LED lights, visible from I-5 and for miles around. The event traditionally includes a visit from Santa, local school choirs, cookies, cocoa, sponsor recognition and the lighting of the tree. Each year, the kids await Santa's arrival on a fire truck generously coordinated with South County Fire. In addition to the Fire Department's Santa transport, we thank the Tour de Terrace volunteers who have served cookies and cocoa at this event for several years.
And finally, we could not hold this event without the financial support of the community. Thank you to Mountlake Terrace Plaza who has funded this event for the past few years. We thank you for your continued support!
The following sponsors contributed toward making our future Tree Lightings in the plaza a reality: Landsverk Quality Homes, Lake Cushman Company, Sound Structural Solutions, AFCO & Sons, Joe Mustach of Mustach & Jackson, Grand Pere Bakery, B Squared Construction, First Security Bank, West Ridge Land Corp, Wade Heyer, Summit Homes, and Chicago Title, as well as Mountlake Terrace Plaza and Premera Blue Cross.
