Ballinger Park Viewing Platform and Trails

Project Overview

Ballinger Park is a 55-acre regional park in an urban neighborhood, located adjacent to I-5, in the rapidly growing, transit-oriented, community of Mountlake Terrace on the border of King and Snohomish Counties. Ballinger Park is adjacent to Sound Transit’s Lynnwood Link Light Rail Extension Project, expected to be completed in 2024, and the Interurban and Lakeview Trails. Much of the park was a city-owned golf course that was converted to a passive park in 2012. The city completed the Ballinger Park Master Plan for the park in 2015.

In an effort to add more water access opportunities in Mountlake Terrace and in the south Snohomish County region the city has developed a project to construct a wildlife viewing platform and connecting pedestrian pathways on the west side of Ballinger Park. The project also includes an improved entry from the west side at the Interurban Trail. Pathways will connect the west entrance to the viewing platform, the new bridge and boardwalk (both are part of the Hall Creek Project).
